What do we offer?
Counselling offers a safe, confidential and caring space for clients to explore issues, emotions and feelings that have come about through various life events. We aim to create an environment that is honest, understanding and free from judgement. Counselling can facilitate growth and raise awareness of emotions, thoughts and behaviours. The positive effects of this can be to boost confidence, lift depression, alleviate anxieties, minimise stress, and diffuse anger.
The service has 4 elements:
- General Counselling
- Bereavement Counselling
- Multi-Ethnic Counselling
- MindTalk (Private service for individuals or couples)
We offer free, one-to-one Counselling sessions which can be face-to-face, telephone or e-counselling depending on client’s preference and counsellor availability. Modalities offered include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused and Gestalt, and increasingly Integrative, which is a mix of more than one modality. There is a mix of qualified paid and volunteer Counsellors, and Counselling students on placement. Please note we are unable provide home visits.
Anyone living in Thurrock over the age of eighteen can self-refer for the Counselling service. You do not need to wait for a referral from your GP or health professional. Just ring us on 01375 391411 and we will help you complete a simple referral form which should take less than ten minutes and things go forward from there, and all calls are treated in confidence.
*Please note we do not offer home visits for counselling.*
