This modern slavery statement is made on behalf of Thurrock and Brentwood Mind.
We are committed to addressing and preventing modern slavery and human
trafficking within our operations and supply chain.
This statement outlines the steps we have taken and continue to take, to ensure that
modern slavery is not taking place within our organisation or our supply chain.
Our Organisation
Thurrock and Brentwood Mind are committed to treating all people with dignity and
respect, and to ensuring the organisations we work with meet our ethical standards.
Slavery and human trafficking are fundamentally opposed to our values and we are
committed to ensuring that our organisation and those we work with are free of
modern slavery and human trafficking. As such, we recognise and take seriously our
responsibility to comply with all principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
We provide information, advice and support for people experiencing mental health
issues across Mid and South Essex with our partners from other local Minds, and
have a Thurrock Carers Service who provide information and advice and support to
unpaid carers. We are satisfied from our own due diligence and robust processes
that there is no evidence of any slavery or human trafficking within the organisation.
Recruitment and people management processes are designed to ensure that all
prospective employees are legally entitled to work in the UK and we will ensure that
our employees are paid no less than the national living wage rate applicable at that
time
Our policies commit us to ensuring that all our volunteers and employees have the
right support, guidance and work-life balance to maintain their mental wellbeing at
work. This is reinforced by a wide policy framework, including a Freedom to Speak
Up (whistleblowing) Policy, Recruitment and Selection Policy, Grievance Policy and
Safeguarding Policies.
Supply chain
We use a range of suppliers, predominantly local, who support our operations. We
are committed to ensuring that our suppliers share in our high standards and that
there is no slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain. Thurrock and Brentwood
Mind assesses itself to have a low risk of Modern Slavery in our supply chain.
This statement has been approved by Thurrock and Brentwood Mind Board of
Trustees and constitutes our slavery and human trafficking statement for the year ending 31st March 2025.
The statement will be reviewed and updated annually.
