Bring people together, start conversations and raise money for better mental health in our local community.
This World Mental Health Day, we’re inviting our community to come together over good food, great company and a cuppa all while raising vital funds for Thurrock and Brentwood Mind.
Saturday 10th October is World Mental Health Day, host your own Big Brunch at home, at work, in your community group, or anywhere friends, family and neighbours can come together.
Because sometimes, simply sitting down with someone, sharing a meal and having a conversation can make a real difference.
A brunch with a bigger purpose
Mental health affects us all. At Thurrock and Brentwood Mind we’re here to make sure people in our local community can access the support, information and services they need when times are tough.
Your Big Brunch will help us continue that work, while creating an opportunity to talk openly about mental health and remind people that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
Whether you’re planning a table for ten or a community gathering for 100, every brunch can make a difference.
What does a Big Brunch look like?
It can be whatever works for you.
Serve up pancakes and pastries, eggs and avocado, homemade cakes or a simple buffet. Ask your guests to bring a dish to share, get your workplace involved, or team up with friends and neighbours to make hosting easy.
You could also make your brunch a little more fun with:
- 🥞 A pancake challenge
- ☕ A coffee and cake morning
- 🧠 A light-hearted mental health quiz
- 🎟️ A raffle with prizes donated by local businesses
- 🎲 Games and activities for all ages
- 💬 Conversation prompts to help get people talking
- 💷 A suggested donation to attend
There’s no perfect way to host a Big Brunch. The important thing is bringing people together and raising what you can.
Every donation helps.
Ask your guests to make a donation when they arrive, or set up an online fundraising page so people can donate before, during or after your event.
You could also create a QR code for your fundraising page and display it on the day, making it easy for guests to donate from their phones.
Every pound raised will help Thurrock and Brentwood Mind continue providing support and services to people in the community.
Get your community involved
A Big Brunch is a great way to bring your community together.
Why not ask a local café, bakery or business to donate food or prizes? Invite your neighbours, colleagues, friends and family. Encourage local groups, schools, community organisations or sports clubs to host their own brunch too.
The more people who get involved, the bigger the difference we can make together.
