I had a working career in the Electrical supply industry for forty years.
Started work as an apprentice and graduated to qualify as an engineer in mechanical and electrical disciplines. Became a specialist in machine dynamics and resolving problems in large machines. Worked at many large power generating stations, mostly in the south-east of England but also in the midlands. These included coal, oil and nuclear power station fuelled sites.
It was during my time in the midlands that I met and married my wife.
After taking early retirement I was offered a job as a specialist with a small diagnostics company as a consultant engineer. (Still, “on the job”).
At this time, I also joined Thurrock Mind as a trustee/treasurer and later also as Chairman for many years.
I continued this volunteering for twenty years but had a break of about one year but rejoined as a trustee following the death of my wife.
I order to serve the community I was also a founding member of a local resident’s association for ten years and have recently also joined the local CVS as a volunteer.
Likes: Among other things, Classical music and opera.
